We here at Lakes Area Wheelers pride ourselves on being a civic minded organization. In addition to a few other projects that are in the works, last summer we had the pleasure of hosting Kinship Partners for a fun day of wheelin'. We had a blast and hope to be able to do it annually.
Here's a quote published in the Brainerd Dispatch:
"On Saturday, June 24, the Lakes Area Wheelers Club hosted a day of 4-wheeling for 21 matched and unmatched kids and their partners from Kinship Partners. Mike Lyons gathered Mike Spencer, Craig Reikofski, Russ Steele, Dan Armstrong, and Dan and Dennis Imberi to drive us around the Spider Lake ORV trails. We experienced hills, rocks (some very big), and some good sized mud holes while Kelly Lyons, Sue Spencer, Jerry Lyons and Tim Benway prepared a picnic lunch fit for a king. Everyone had a great time especially the kids. Their big smiles and thanks showed us how much they enjoyed this event. Thank you to Lakes Area Wheelers for hosting this event and the wonderful picnic lunch, but most of all thank you for the time you spent with our kids and your support of the mission of Kinship Partners. If you're going to Spider Lake recreation area, about two miles from the main entrance you'll see our sign... What better way to one, get our names out there and two, provide a service to the community.
